US: In the 19th century, young Americans were advised to settle the West. ⌠Go West, young man!■ was a popular slogan.
But thanks to the financial crisis, many American bankers are looking to Eastern Europe, Asia and developing economies for jobs.
A recent study by executive recruiting firm Korn/Ferry International found that 53 per cent of 438 executives felt their chances
of finding a job would be better in countries such as Russia, Brazil, India or China than in the US. And 20 per cent of 718 executives
said they would be more likely to take a job abroad now than they would be if the US economy were healthier.
Alex Alcott, head of US investment banking at Heidrick & Struggles, told The Wall Street Journal: ⌠There has been a gold rush to
places like Dubai.■ Alcott said that Beijing, Shanghai and Moscow also offer opportunities for financial professionals.
Britain has been hit hard by the economic downturn, but other European countries are becoming more attractive to the
US financial community. Executive recruiter Ed Moerbe of Stanton Chase International in Dallas says that seven top managers
have applied for the job of chief operating officer at an industrial and financial company in Denmark. ⌠I▓m blown away,■ Moerbe
comments. ⌠I▓ve never seen people so willing to move before.■

В Шпигеле на прошлой неделе была заметка об одном немецком банке, которого кризис не коснулся. Банк состоит из одного служащего, и вкладчиками являются жители только одной деревни. Кроме конто, шпарбух и кредита нету никаких банковских услуг И полная изоляция от внешнего мира

А я тоже про одну такую банкиршу в книжке читал. Но только она не в Германии жила, а в Питере. Один бедный студент её по башке топориком увалил

что самое интересно, что именно про эту историю весь мир знает и до сих пор перечитывает, хотя скока народу было до и после из за денех передушено-аки звёзд на небе....
